It is one of the last few road races of the season before long, selective courses give way to short, fast criteriums.
This years Maillot Jaune Road Race, held in Fenton Michigan, was overall a great hilly race - minus the 3 mile section of quite possibly the worst road surface ever encoutered. Just ask some of the locals racing for the teams of Maple Leaf Cycling, Maximum Edge, or Wolverine/American Cycle & Fitness.
Though results wise there wasn't much to speak of but the events surrounding the event could be considered noteworthy.
Apres race consisted of complimentary food, beverages, and ice cream. You know the kind of stuff you would find at a triathlon, but never a road race, which makes you think that tri-guys might be onto something.
And finally, a pit stop at the most glorious gas/food/beer/liqour store ever. Almost worth the trip North on I-75 to Exit 101. Incredible beer selection. Incredible.
