County Ramble: Hors Categorie

Looking to sear the lungs and reap the benefits of training at altitude? The overpass is one of the few local inclines that provides some contour relief to the local topography.

So everytime you cross the Kings Highway and launch an attack up the gentle riser, take the very brief moment to enjoy the view from up high.

The Monday Night Worlds should be starting up within the next few weeks [more details to follow]. Also, look for the W.R.C.S. Awards Presentation to coincide with one of those rides [bike, bbq, awards].

  1. Jim, Kris and John all braved the elements this past Sunday. Though no other WRCS riders showed for the ride, which clocked 3hours and 25minutes. The aboved mentions riders are all wondering when their points will be updated. We did take some pics, however the images were very very blury due to the high speed of the riders.

  2. I have taken the request of JLo and made the following decision as per his request for points. Given the commitment, enthusiasm and love, these 3 exceptional riders have shown for the WRCS and the integral role they play in its success. Seeing as I am on vacation enjoying a much deserved rest with my family, I am in a very generous mood. I have decided to bestow the following points Jim 40 points, Kris 40 points and John 35 points (John your kissing up post / request cost you 5 points). Looking forward to my return and the next WRCS ride. Yours in Snowshoes, The Almighty Point Giver.

  3. The stupid thing about overpasses is you can use them for effective training. When I first got into cycling I lived in Sarnia and did all my training alone. I would use some routes that would criss cross the 402 and come back into town, by the end I had usually taken 4-6 overpasses and sprinted up them. I developed a good sprint and did really well on slight uphill finishes. Once I moved to Windsor I lost some pop in my sprint because once you head south there are no overpasses.
Just a thought use what is available to you even if it isn't too glam.
As far as the points go, Adam I would dock them points for running an illegal WRCS ride. If the OCA found out you could face jail time.

  4. Thanks for the advice Nick, but the points have already been given. A point laid is a point played.

  5. Impersonating is the sisncerest form of flattery - though I'm thinking it could result in a lifetime ban from the WRCS. JLo, you and your bandit WRCS goons will recieve a handshake for your efforts upon my return, nohting more - now that is generosity.

  6. WHAT!! This accusation is shocking. Why would you suspect me of impersonation. Truth be told Kris told me of his latest thread of posts yesterday. It makes sense if you look at who gains the most from the bogus bonus points --- Kris, not me or Jim. Check out the numbers, numbers don't lie, I rest my case!

  7. It wasn't me, if it were I would have given us a lot more bonus points and would not have docked Jlo for sucking up. As well I am not that creative enough to have thought of that plan. I think someone is trying sabotage the WRCS and the 3 dedicated riders.

  8. However, the extra points would have made a great addition to my total tally.

  9. Lets put it to a vote. How many in favour of points being awarded to the 3 dedicated WRCS riders?

  20. Guy's I'm sorry. I'm also sorry for throwing Kris under the bus, he's very dedicated and he didn't deserve that. I think I will give Kris all my points, ya that sounds fair.

  21. Wow, thanks John that is realllly nice of you. But I would have to say you are pretty dedicated yourself

  22. Under the bus..... Sounds like Ian pretending to be someone he's not.

Kris you can have my points if you like, you are most deserving. I think once the site manager a.k.a. Point Master reads this string of posts I'm sure to be stripped of some if not all of my points and possibly lose my WRCS riding rights. Oh well the price you pay for stirring the pot!
I'm out and I retire...(my mountain bike that is)
