The best part of this event is that it is over.
In the 50 version, no records were broken, but bikes, bodies, and legs were. In the mini version the record was bested by seconds in a close battle - must've been the lack of lycra that helped the victor.

The question was raised post race, "What does it take to win the Alpe?". It takes 2 things.
[1] A steady diet of Bike The Bruce events, ie., Ciociaro series, O-Cup finale, etc.
[2] It takes the pic below. This is the defining moment of the race. At this point there was a transference of bearded energy. Race plate No.2 transmitted positive bike vibes to race plate No.1 - the ultimate teammate and sacrifice. Bam, there it is.

Still no plans for the road bike on the horizon because there are some local cross races looming.

ReplyDeleteAnd you got to do the transfer of energy...what....five or six times!
ReplyDeleteBecause sitting in a lawn chair with an umbrella is impressive !
ReplyDeleteMore impressive if that umbrella had've been in a drink. Is there a date set for CountryCross yet??
ReplyDeleteUnfortunately you don't have a beard Dwyer, because Adam went by you 50 times sitting in that lawn chair. Imagine the power transfer there.

Actually, only about 30 times. Nick couldn't handle watching the whole thing. Too tiring.
ReplyDeleteall true...actually I clearly remember telling myself last year after just doing the relay that doing the full 50 looked like hell
